Omg, is THIS what a PB (or near-PB) feels like??

Had some leftover pork loin for lunch today, and I was a bit leery. I've been progressively having trouble with pork -- especially reheated -- and last night's pork got slightly overcooked to begin with. So I was trying to make extra sure that I chewed it as fine as I could.

Well... things weren't going well just a few bites into my lunch. I hardly heated it (just enough to take the chill off) if only to keep it from getting even tougher. However, it just didn't work. Before I knew it, I was feeling stuck... then pain... then intense pain... then that "bobble" feel I used to have when I had my hiatal hernia where the food is stuck, and when you swallow, it pushes air down, yet you also have air pushing up from below, and the food just sits there.

I went down the hall to try to salvage what I could of my lunch hour to get a turkey pita (I still don't have trouble with bready foods), and the pain just wasn't going away. Trigger the sweats... and pain... and bobble... and excess saliva. Somebody I know was there ordering her lunch too and tried talking to me, but all I could get out was that I had something stuck (she doesn't know about my surgery). I ended up ordering and then leaving to go to the bathroom because I was afraid I was going to blow. I went into the stall and bent over the toilet, if only hoping that it would dislodge. I came thisclose to throwing up.

It finally stopped. I mopped my face from all the sweating and went and got my pita. From now on, reheated pork is OFF the menu. And frankly, since this is the first time I've had pork since my last fill, it's getting very close to being off the menu completely. The only other food that has given me this trouble is reheated salmon, but I can be a bit more careful with that one.

  2. Thanks, Elsie! I just saw you joined, and your bio sounded interesting.

Hey, if we can't be honest with ourselves, who can we be honest with, right? I know others may read this (who knows, but I hope), but I use this as my journal. I can put so much more down in typing than I can writing. :)
