What a miserable night

And no, it doesn't have anything to do with DH. :D

I've been awake all night with reflux. I had my fill yesterday, so of course my first thought is that I'm too tight. I called my doctor's office at about 6:45 this morning to talk to my nurse, and as of now she thinks the combination of being swollen from my PBing the other day and my fill, and then the fact that I had cheese soup not long before I went to bed was enough to cause my problem. I just wanted to be sure it wasn't simply a case that I am too tight, as this is the first time I've had any reflux.

I just assumed that because the soup was liquid, it went right through. Obviously not. To make things worse, I had tomato soup yesterday afternoon too. So add all these acid-based foods to the fact that I am probably double swollen from the PBing and fill, and it was not a good combination.

I just took one of DH's acid controller pills at the request of the nurse, and I almost PBed on it as well. I can tell that within the last few minutes it appears to have passed.

I'm so tired and miserable about now... I'll try to let things settle down and then attempt a nap later on.

  1. Ho boy... and I have all this to look forward to, not yet having had my first fill. Good thing I have you girls around to learn NOT what to do. I hope you feel better soon. Just be good to yourself. :)

  2. Thanks, Cara, and don't be scared -- you may never go through it.

As of right now it seems to be settling down. Believe it or not, I had some low-fat vanilla ice cream (thought it might soothe my stomach) and followed it with some hot chicken broth. It may have done the trick as I don't notice near as much acid. Not 100 percent, but close.

I just think it was a lot of things that came together and caused swelling. The one thing I CAN say is follow your doctor's orders. Not that I didn't, but to me, that is a biggie.

  3. Oh I hope you are feeling better asap! I had sever reflux on Friday night followed by a tummy virus of vomiting for 7 hrs - off to the Dr tonight to find out if I have done any damage. Reflux is super yukky so I feel for you (and ice-cream does help get rid of all that yukky acid. xo

  4. Going in this afternoon for a slight unfill. I'm a lot better than I was yesterday, and I did get some sleep, but at 3:30 this morning a huge rush of acid woke me up and nearly choked me. Ugh... :(
