1-year bandiversary!

Okay, I haven't made it to bed yet, but it is technically my one-year bandiversary.  One year ago today, I took the steps to take charge of my life and got my band.  I am down 68.5 pounds which -- though not as good as I had hoped -- is better than I have experienced in the past.  Granted, I've dieted successfully in the past -- and by successfully I mean that I lost a large amount of weight in a short amount of time.  However, I don't believe I was ever successfully lower a year out from my start date as I am now.  Often by six months out, I was already getting off track and working back in an upward swing.  Often by one year out, I had gained a lot of my weight back.  So I will choose to look at that as my success.

I decided to go ahead and take measurements, something I haven't done since May.  Well, I was pleasantly surprised!  Since my last measurements, I've lost another 12 1/4 inches!  All together, I have lost 81 inches of what used to be fat and flab.

That feels REALLY good!  I needed that today, to see the results in pictures, and to take measurements.  It tells me that even though my weight loss is "only" 16 pounds since May, the results ARE showing up in other ways.

  1. Hey, don't down yourself.. 68.5 pounds in a year is a heck of a loss.. and yeah, look how good you are doing now. No sign of stopping like you have before and no weight gain (apart from the occasional blip but jeez, don't we ALL have those lol) Well done and Happy Bandiversary!!!!

  2. Congratulations.... you ought to be so proud of this loss, 68 pounds in a year is incredible. And it sounds like you are keeping on, even if the pace is slower.
You look wonderful and I hope you feel that way too.....

  3. I do feel wonderful, and thank you both. The unfortunate thing is I am comparing myself to a prior diet (healthy, not starvation) where I lost 70 pounds in just over six months. Had I not done that, I might not have had something to gauge it off of and beat myself up on. But yes, I am thankful for the loss, and I plan to keep on keepin' on. I know my body's not ready to stop at 221.

  5. Happy Bandiversary! 68 pounds is awesome. Maybe in the past you lost it faster.. but you also gained it back.. this time those pounds are gone gone gone. You have the wonder tool this time to help keep you on track.. forever. How cool is that? Congratulations! ~Jenn

  10. Congratulations, and happy bandiversary, Beth!! It was great to see your current photo! My view on the weight loss is that slow & steady wins the race -- the rate you are going at now is healthy and it's sustainable (unlike the 70 lbs in 6 months). This is just great! Congratulations on the results of all of your hard work and focus!!

  11. Thanks, Catherine. I keep telling myself that having these plateaus is just giving my skin a chance to catch up so maybe I won't have as much sag. ;)
